Only for today, I accept everything that comes my way

We left the house a little late this morning.
The tram pulled away just as we arrived. I said,
“Only for today, I accept everything that comes my way,”
and I felt at peace with being late for school.
Later, when I picked up the children, they were grumpy and started to argue with each other. I quietly reminded myself,
“Only for today, I accept everything that comes my way.”
They must have sensed the calm within me, because somehow, the noise and bickering stopped.
The shopping I had ordered did not arrive in time for me to cook the dinner I had planned for that evening. I said,
“Only for today, I accept everything that comes my way,”
and I got creative with the few ingredients I had left in the fridge.
My husband was running very late for dinner, and I was about to send him a — not-so-nice — message.
But instead, I paused and said,
“Only for today, I accept everything that comes my way.”
I ate dinner on my own and took a long, relaxing bath instead.
This day could have looked very different. It held so many opportunities for anxiety, frustration, and anger.
But the intention changed everything.
Try waking up one morning and setting this intention:
Only for today, I accept everything that comes my way.
You may find that acceptance liberates you. There is so much freedom, and deep peace, in simply letting go.
Surrender the need to control, and receive with open arms whatever the day brings.
We will only experience true peace when we can release our resistance to whatever form the present moment takes.
